ART EXHIBITION
GLIMPSE: CONTEMPORARY ART FROM ICELAND
From March 9 to 18 | Maison Colombani gallery
Opening exhibition on Friday 9 | 7.00 PM
In presence of H.E. Mr. Thórir Ibsen, Ambassador of Iceland to India
Ólöf Nordal, Erla Thórarinsdóttir and Mireya Samper are in the front rank of Icelandic visual artists. Nordal comes to Pondicherry with photographic work that reflects her long interest in Icelandic nature and its scientific study: A breed of sheep and a glacial formation that a peculiar to this isolated, Arctic island. Thórarinsdóttir and Samper work more with abstract symbols, colours and textures. While the first explores the symbolism of colours and shapes, Samper most often uses a limited or monochrome palette, focusing on the texture and translucency of the paper and other materials she employs.
Exhibition curated by Jón Proppé.
