Updated: Puducherry Lockdown guidelines extended to July 31: Tourist spots permitted to open

 

Update: Puducherry Lockdown has been extended to June 30 night with existing guidelines and additional relaxations. All restaurants and shops in Pondicherry are open till 9 p.m now.

Earlier the lockdown was extended to June 21.

WHEN ? Till June 30

WHAT’S NOT ALLOWED 

  • Cinemas, theatres, auditoriums
  • All types of gatherings in open or closed spaces: social/ political/ entertainment.
  • Congregations or poojas/prayers rituals for public at places of worship.
  • Vehicular movement after 9 pm except for emergencies, medical reasons, funerals, marriages.
  • All activities that are not on permitted list.
  • Corona Night Curfew 10 pm – 5 am will remain.

WHAT’S ALLOWED

5 AM- 9 AM:

Beach Road is open for morning walks. Masks & social distancing compulsory.

Parks and public gardens for morning walks.

Till 5 P.M. only

Places of worship open for darshan and individual prayers. Poojas and rituals can be performed only among priests/employees of institution and not for congregations or gatherings.

Till 6 P.M. only 

Private offices can function following Covid protocol and 100 % vaccination of eligible staff. 9 AM- 6 PM

Till 9 P.M Only: 

  1. All shops, commercial/ business establishments can function without A/C, following Covid protocol:   9 AM- 9 PM
  2. Vegetable and fruit shops. 5 AM- 9 PM
  3. Dining in at restaurants, eateries etc with 50 % seating capacity.
  4. Tea shops, juice shops following Covid protocol inside and in front of shops.
  5. Home delivery/ takeaway of food from restaurants/ juice shops/ tea shops/ eateries.
  6. Bars inside hotels, restaurants and guest houses.
  7. Retail liquor outlets with social distancing markings & Covid protocols. 9 AM- 9 PM
  8. Buses, autos, taxis, private & govt passenger transport following Covid protocol.

IMPORTANT: All owners & persons working at shops, commercial establishments, industries, government and private offices, restaurants, bars, eateries must be vaccinated by June 26, failing which they may not be allowed to function.

Permitted with restrictions :

  • Marriages allowed with maximum 100 guests and funerals/ last rites with 20 attendees.
  • Sports activities without spectators.
  • Film & TV shooting with maximum 100 people.
  • All industries, manufacturing centres, factories and construction activities. All employees must take Covid rapid test before re-opening. Covid protocols including body temperature scanning to be followed. If a worker is found positive, they are allowed medical leave and cannot be discontinued citing this absence as reason; others who were in active contact must be quarantined with pay.

No Specifc Time Restrictions Mentioned: 

  • Goods transport & E-commerce activities
  • Milk booths & supply of milk/ dairy.
  • Pharmacies, opticians, labs. Hospitals, ambulance, hearse, medical and allied activities
  • Petrol pumps, ATMs
  • Internet, telecom, broadcasting, cable, media, IT, ITES
  • All agricultural operations
  • All government departments
  • Registration of automobiles and issuance of driving license. Registration of documents.
  • Courts as per Madras High Court Order.
  • Water supply, electricity, cold storage, warehouses, private security
  • Emergency services, fire, law & order
  • Vehicle movement for emergencies, medical reasons, marriage, job interview, exams- carry proof and ID card

Movement of People:

  • No e-pass needed to enter Puducherry. E- registration is required to travel to Tamil Nadu: http://eregister.tnega.org. 
  • Public are advised to purchase essentials from shops near their homes and not to travel long distances. Id proof and purpose of travel may be verified by law enforcement officials anytime.
  • Violation of lockdown orders and stepping outside house without valid reason can be fined.
