This ‘Young Achievers’ event in Pondy will recognise social changemakers

The term ‘Young Achievers’ has been going viral this week after a front page advertisement published in the Bangalore edition of a national newspaper received flak on social media for being elitist and sexist. The ad for the Young Achievers Matrimonial Meet placed ‘beautiful girls’ under the eligible criteria and was planned for International Youth Day which falls on August 12.

But in Pondicherry, young achievers of a different sort have been recognised and awarded on International Youth Day for the past 3 years.  Trust for Youth and Child Leadership (TYCL) instituted the ‘Young Social Changemaker Award’ in 2015 too recognise and promote the efforts of  young people who have made a positive change in Puducherry, Villupuram and Cuddalore.
